Perseids Meteor Shower 2025: The Celestial Rave You Can’t Miss

Posted by

If the sky had a highlight reel, the Perseids meteor shower would be the headliner every year. The iconic meteor shower is back and peaks this August 12–13, 2025. The moon might be stealing some of the spotlight, but the Perseids are still bringing main-character energy.

So, What’s the Hype?

The Perseids are basically the Beyoncé of meteor showers—fast, bright, and legendary. Every summer, Earth passes through a cosmic dust trail, and those tiny space bits light up our skies like a glitter bomb in slow motion.

Even though this year’s show has a pretty bright moon, you’ll still catch some of the boldest meteors, and maybe even a few fireballs. Fireballs = extra big, extra bright meteors that stick around longer. Total drama.

When + Where to Look

The Perseids are best seen from the Northern Hemisphere, so if you’re in places like North America, Europe, or Asia, you’re in luck! From Canada to California, or from London to Tokyo, this is your chance to catch some of the brightest meteors of the year.

Peak night is August 12 into the early hours of August 13. For max vibes:

  • Get somewhere dark and far from city lights.
  • Bring a blanket, snacks, and someone cool to stargaze with.
  • Look toward the northeast starting around 10 PM, but things really pop off just before the sun rises (around 3 AM to 5 AM).

How Many Will You See?

On a perfect night, you could spot up to 100 meteors an hour. This year, the bright moon will tone it down a bit, but you can still expect around 12–25 every hour. Still iconic.
